Bigger fines for firms


Bigger fines for firms failing to take steps to keep children safe online. Labour is calling for harsher measures against companies that fail to protect children or use predatory techniques against vulnerable users.


The law currently allows for companies in breach of the Code to be fined up to £18 million, but when internet giants like Google hold more than £90 billion in cash reserves this is a poor disincentive
