What
The UK should ensure that its international and ‘onward transfer’ regime, including with the US, provides equivalent levels of protection to those set out in the EU’s regime as this will form a key part of the EU’s adequacy assessment as Brexit takes place.
Why
It is essential that the UK maintain data transfer adequacy with the EU and third parties that have data transfer arrangements with the EU to minimise disruption to data flows, which are now essential to trade around the world.
