Individuals must be able to ascertain their data footprint.

Individuals must be able to understand and gain access to all their data that is in the possession or under the control of organisations and technologies. This applies to observed, derived, predicted and inferred data, as much as it does to data that individuals have entrusted to entities, including data that is on their devices.

Access to such data is essential, as it is the precondition for identifying and challenging any, inaccuracies, misuse and non-compliance, for instance with data protection law.
