Mandate the use of open source software in schools

Schools and educational establishments in general should be using open source software except in the unusual case where commercial software is entirely necessary.

Free and open source software lowers the financial barrier to entry to computing. It is a wonderful learning tool for the innovators of tomorrow, because learners can examine precisely how software works and even develop and contribute to it themselves. It is the best way to teach programing skills. It would save our education system an absolute fortune in software licenses.
