Trust:

Young people should be able to delete their content

What

We should ensure that young people understand and are able to easily remove any content they shared on the internet before they turned 18.

Why

This would protect the data of young people and prevent long-lasting damage.

I think the principle here is good, and I think that the new GDPR regulations that are coming in to force next year will help.

But I also think that it's dangerous to encourage young people to proceed with the assumption that data can be removed.

Ultimately, if it has been shared online there is no mechanical or legislative process that can guarantee that no record has been made of it.

Isn’t this a safety net for failed digital literacy? I agree there should be more protection for children, but erasing content seems unrealistic.
